In times long past, the vikings — ancestors of modern Scandinavians — honored and called upon the strength of the Old Gods. Of these gods, Thor was considered one of the strongest and most influential.

The master of thunder and lightning, Thor (it was said) lent his strength and protection to all who wore the symbol of his mighty hammer Mjolnir. Legend has it that the mighty hammer of Thor was forged by the dwarf Sindri, and a mighty hammer it was — as it was indestructible, and would always return to Thor’s hand when thrown.
